Job Title: Health & Safety Manager

Salary: Starting salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Location: This role will be based at HQ, Kilwaughter, Co. Antrim

Purpose: As Health & Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and embedding a strong safety culture across all sites. Working closely with site leadership and employees, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health & safety policies, ensuring operational excellence in a high-risk, fast-paced environment.

You will be an ambitious, driven and hands-on individual who thrives in a demanding and dynamic environment, delivering best practice and excellence through coaching and mentoring your Business Partners.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Foster a “safety-first” mindset across all levels of the business to embed a strong health & safety culture, ensuring employees and leaders prioritise health and safety. Develop engaging safety training programs to upskill staff and promote behavioural safety.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels. Promote proactive safety behaviours through engagement, toolbox talks, and leadership visibility.
  • Act as a credible and hands-on leader, influencing operational teams to embed best practices. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring health & safety is a business enabler, not a blocker.
  • Ensure full compliance with UK, Northern Ireland, and Ireland health & safety laws and regulations Maintain ISO to the highest standards.
  • Management of the Health & Safety budget including capital expenditure investments.
  • Identify and mitigate key risks associated with heavy plant manufacturing (e.g., machinery safety, lifting operations, working at height, noise, vibration, hazardous substances).
  • Management of risk assessments ensuring they comply with relevant legislations and regulations whilst applicable to site operations and communicated to all relevant people.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and HR teams to align safety with productivity and health and wellbeing.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, identifying innovative ways to enhance safety performance.
  • Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and HR to align safety with strategic goals.
  • Maintain and evolve clear KPIs. Provide monthly updates to the board. Use data-driven insights to drive safety improvements and measure the effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Lead accident and near-miss investigations, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Be an ambassador for the company values and at the forefront of a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Take on any other duties as directed by the Operations Director.

  • NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety

NEBOSH qualification in Fire Safety and Risk Assessment

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in Health & Safety Management within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations in UK and Ireland
  • Background in managing health and safety in multi-site organisations
  • Membership of IOSH
  • ISO Auditor

Skills

Demonstrated ability in influencing, coaching, communication, and time management

Excellent organisational and follow-up skills; competent in problem solving, and decision making to support the business units

Experience in Accident Investigation

Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications

Driving on-site Health & Safety initiatives and Continuous Improvement

Circumstances

  • Able to work flexible hours as required
  • Travel to sites across UK & Ireland
  • Possess a full current driving licence
