Leading quarry and mineral processor Kilwaughter Minerals Limited has been announced as a finalist in three categories of the prestigious Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards.
Kilwaughter has been named on the shortlist in the ‘Collaborative Action’ category as well as ‘Impact in your Community’ and ‘Skills and Education’, recognising the impact of the company’s contributions to the wider community, environment and the development of essential skills in young people.
Fiona Byrne, Organisational Development Director at Kilwaughter, said:
“The Responsible Business Awards are widely recognised as being the ultimate accolade for businesses in Northern Ireland. We are particularly honoured to have been shortlisted in three categories this year as responsible business practices have been core to our ethos at Kilwaughter since the business began in 1939.
“We are particularly proud to share details of Kilwaughter’s expanding skills and education outreach programme with the judging panel. As part of this initiative, Kilwaughter aims to bring new skills to young people in Larne and the surrounding area to inspire, remove barriers to education and open new career pathways for them within the construction industry.”
The next stage in the judging process for the Responsible Business Awards involves finalists attending panels on 25 and 26 June, when they will be required to present their entries to a panel of three expert judges.
The winners in each category will be announced at a gala event in ICC Belfast on 5 September.
