The Institute of Directors (IoD), Northern Ireland, has welcomed Kilwaughter Minerals Director David Smith onto its committee.

The IoD is a thriving member community for directors in the UK and beyond and has been at the heart of business since its formation in 1903. The Royal Charter, awarded in 1906, charged the IoD with promoting free enterprise, lobbying government and setting standards for corporate governance. The IoD aims to educate and encourage best practice director behaviours through offering support, guidance, promoting valuable connections and meaningful influence to all of its members.

Through a competitive selection process, David was elected by members of IoD Northern Ireland and begins a 3-year term on the committee starting January 2024.

Upon being appointed on the committee, David had the following to say,

“For many years, IoD NI has provided a strategic voice for businesses across the province. As a key player in Northern Ireland’s manufacturing industry I am therefore delighted that Kilwaughter will have direct representation on the committee for the next three years. I will join a highly experienced committee made up of leading professionals with diverse skillsets and backgrounds. I look forward to using my own skillsets and experiences to provide valuable input into some of the key challenges and opportunities facing local businesses.”
